Our Beach Getaway

We are done traveling, forever. Okay, so not forever but that’s how I always feel after being away from home for extended periods of time. We just finished up a trip to Prineville for my cousins wedding which was so fun, my aunts wedding reception (which was also a great time), Matt helping do the message at church, and visiting loads of ministry partners. It was a fantastic trip but I am so exhausted. My extrovert side was stretched to the max and today I felt like I could barely function. My goal was to not leave the house and I succeeded. Yes! It was also 95 out so I didn’t want to venture out anyway. I like warm weather but boo to this hot stuff. Thankfully my parents gave us a portable air conditioner to bring home so Jenna can actually sleep upstairs. It’s like a sauna up there. Praising the Lord for that provision for sure. (And since she’s gone for a couple days we’re using it our room. Yay!)

Before our trip to Prineville we were able to go to the beach and stay in some friends beach house. It was amazing, relaxing, refreshing, and I want to go back. I didn’t want to leave! It was the first family vacation we’ve had that was more than two days and just the 4 of us. It was glorious. We played, rested, played, rested, and played some more. It was so nice to be unplugged (no tv or internet) for a few days, we actually read books, took naps and just stared off into the vastness of the ocean (which we could see from the deck, seriously, heaven).

Here are a few pics of our time. One of the highlights for me was that we got to go on our first family bike ride together. Now that Jenna can ride her own bike we rode to our hearts content along the boardwalk. The swing set on the beach was also so fun. I think Jenna and Isaac liked flying the kite and being buried in the sand (really they did). And Jenna also lost another tooth at the beach. I guess we’ll just have to keep going back there for her teeth to fall out. Bizarre but true.

I’m so thankful we were able to get away for our time at the beach before the crazy of fall kicks off. It is vital to our sanity and to our family. We’re also realizing that we have to get out of the city occasionally to be able to continue to love it like we want to. Thankfully the Lord provides opportunities for us to do it every once in a while.

**I just noticed one of the pictures is repeated. Do you see it? I’m too tired to fix it so it is what it is.

  1. I love the picture of Matt in the chair with hood up and hat on. Love the Oregon Coast! What a great trip, so glad you could do it!
