Our 9 Year Stay-cation

Matt and I just celebrated our 9 year anniversary on Wed. and this weekend we are extending our celebration with a stay-cation. Jenna is with the grandparents and we are having a much needed little retreat at home. It’s been over two years since we’ve had extended time together without Jenna and it’s been so great for us. Especially knowing we’ll be adding another baby to the mix soon.

I just have to say that I’m married to the best husband ever. He makes me better and is a tangible picture of God’s love in my life on a daily basis. I am a lucky woman and I can’t believe that it’s been 9 years already! Time flies when you’re having fun.

So what have we been up to you may wonder, or not, but I’m going to tell you anyway. We dropped off Jenna and what do most parents do when they have no kids? They go to Target or Costco or Lowes, and we did just that. We went to Target and Ross 🙂 Now we have the basics for our new addition to our family and feel much more prepared. Then we stayed up until past midnight watching a movie. That’s right, midnight! Crazy I know.

Then today I slept in until 9! Amazingness really. But the fun had just begun. We then went to Patisserie Lili for brunch and shared the most delicious biscuits and gravy with eggs, bacon and rosemary potatoes. You really must go there and try it. And the coffee was also great. From there we headed into the country for the wine tour. The countryside is loaded with beautiful orchards, vineyards, and farms where you can pick all the berries your heart desires. We saw the Roloff Farm which I thought was very exciting because I’m a TLC nerd. We stopped to taste wine and take some pictures at Shafer Vineyard Cellars. It’s well worth the stop and if you like Christmas ornaments and santas, they have a whole showroom. My grandma would have been in heaven. From there we journeyed on to the Smith Berry Barn for a fresh strawberry milkshake and scone with raspberry jam. Just what we needed as a little pick me up on our tour. The gift shop is incredible and they have fields of berries to pick, fresh produce and flowers galore to purchase. I think the hanging baskets there were the biggest I’ve ever seen. We ventured home to rest and read. Last stop to end a perfect day was Papa Haydens which everyone raves about. It’s a hop skip and a jump from our house and definitely lived up to the hype. We shared the chocolate truffle cake and the blueberry lemon cheesecake. They were incredible! Best dessert we’ve had in a long time.

Whew! What a day! I weigh about 2 pounds more than I did this morning from all the yummy food. But man it was worth it.  If you’re in the area and want a fun filled day I recommend all the places we went. And to think, we still have another whole day to ourselves. I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
