Crossing the Divide

14 years ago (wow, that’s a long time ago) at a winter conference (now called CRU Conference) here in Portland God radically changed my heart and the direction of my life. I walked away from that time in Portland a changed college student. And today I am so thankful for that conference and how God showed up in my life personally. I never would have imagined that I would be in full-time ministry. Most days I think I am totally unworthy to be called to such a thing. I’m still a broken sinner in need of a Savior. But that’s what God does, uses broken people to lead others to a magnificent God. What a blessing.

So tomorrow, about 500 college students are going to show up here in Portland for this year’s CRU Conference. Would you join us in praying that God would meet each student in an incredible way? Pray that they would not leave here without being changed and compelled to follow Christ for a lifetime. Pray that people around the city will encounter God in a new and life changing way as a result of our students being here.

We aren’t here to just sing songs and have a good time, although those things happen. We are here from all over the Northwest because we want to be transformed by Christ and together, engage the world as he did–crossing every divide to be the restoring, healing, transforming presence of God in this crazy and beloved world.
