I was sharing with someone recently about our adoption story and he looked at Isaac and said “If she only knew what she gave up.” Like she had been selfish to walk away from him. I then told him that it was the most selfless decision she’s ever made and why. Mothers who give their children up for adoption do one of the most selfless acts there are in my opinion. I can’t imagine doing it myself. In the video that I talked about in my post yesterday Mark Schultz sings a song about his birth mom and his adoption. It was so moving to me. Then I found an interview with him about that song and it was so awesome to watch. I’m thankful that Isaac will know Brittani and the sacrifice she made and won’t have to wonder if she loved him. He’ll be able to have a conversation with her about it one day. I encourage you to listen to them both. It definitely hit home with me.

  1. I am acutely aware of what I have given up. And as much as it hurts, I am confident that it was the right thing to do. I cherish you and your family and the life that he will live. I am the luckiest girl on earth because I get to have a relationship with you and be a part of his life, thank you for that. You are an amazing woman and he is lucky to have you for a mother!

  2. That song and that story is amazing. Bless Mark for his story and words and I pray that it will touch lives of young women and help them make the right choice about adoption.
We are thankful for Brittani everyday for her choice and for the blessing of Isaac in our lives.
